Matthew 7: 13-14

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

From the short distance I have traveled in my journey I know for a fact that anything worth while is not earned easily or instantly. This should speak volumes to anyone who lives right now because instant and easy are probably very important to you. We have lost patience and expect everything right now. The repercussions of this are starting to show in America and they are not pretty. We have all seen what happens when instant food is your primary source of nutrition or even just a casual indulgence. Obesity is rampet right now and its ruining people’s lives. Look at our financial well-being as Americans. We may all have front row seats to the end of an empire because or our need for easy money and quick results. I know too many people who made the choice to not go to college or did not finish what they started. The years work could not be felt immediately and so it was not worth the sacrifice. The list goes on.

Change the way you think and invest in the next step instead of the one you are currently taking. So few people actually think ahead and invest in what is to come rather than what serves them right now. The longer I journey that more I see that this verse is too true; few people will ever put the work into a relationship with Christ and walk the path of righteousness. Few people will invest and save their money instead of spending each paycheck as it comes. Few people will look at what goes into their body and call getting fat and out of shape “aging”.

One thing is easy in this world that is worth having. Repenting to God, asking forgiveness and accepting the gift of eternal life. Yet most people will never do that. That decision brings true, real life and I think that most people are afraid of that. It is easier to take the paved road to destruction rather than the jungle path to salvation. Let me tell you from experience, the road less traveled will always be a challenge and bring you fulfilment. Its hard but anything worth having will always be hard, you can count on that.
